As we sprint toward the end of 2019, I'm sure you have just as many holiday parties as I do! Seriously, I'm not sure if I have a completely free date on my calendar until 2020. Wild!
Holiday party dressing can be stressful, especially in the age of Instagram where you want to capture all your fun outings but don't want to be caught wearing the same thing twice (or else Kate Sanders will call you out), so I wanted to share two recent party outfits I wore in hopes that it might strike some inspiration for you!
1. Sequins All The Way
Can you ever go wrong with sequins? I say, "No way!"
I wore this dress to Mariah Carey's Christmas concert in Vegas (yes, I'm still freaking out about seeing Queen Mariah in person, and yes, hearing her sing "All I Want for Christmas is You" was just as magical IRL) and love that it features larger, disc-like sequins. For all your fancy parties, go for sequins.

2. The Ultimate Party Skirt
For all my friends asking about this poofy skirt, it's from H&M and it is fabulous! I love a good statement-making skirt, especially in winter when I wear black tights and boots all season long. A fun pop of color is a great way to break a look up when you're wearing a lot of dark colors, and who can say no to a bit—okay, a lot—of volume?
Finding similar skirts was a little tricky, but luckily my exact one is under $75 and just so fun. I also found some full-skirted and jacquard skirts for good measure:

For best results, tie the hem of your shirt in a knot, leave the top few buttons unbuttoned, and haphazardly roll up the sleeves. Pair with high-waisted jeans or a midi skirt and you have yourself a sassy summer look that still looks polished and put-together. No hot messes here!

Once upon a time denim was a fabric reserved for a pair of casual pants we like to call The Blue Jean. Jeans are great—they're comfortable, casual, and versatile, but they can only get you so far. Why should your legs get all the fun?
Alas, that was a problem for yesterday. Today, clothes of all types are done up in denim, from jackets to dresses and even purses. From a denim trench coat to going out dresses, denim is no longer reserved for casual weekends or even just for your legs. In fact, with clothes of all styles made up in denim, you could conceivably build up a wardrobe of only denim.
Seriously though, when denim is this varied, is there really a need for anything else?

In just a few short weeks, yours truly will be fully legal and ready to check out the coolest bars, clubs, and lounges that Los Angeles has to offer (ahh! I'm so excited). Such an occasion calls for some new looks—naturally—and I've found myself thinking about "going out" fashions, or what some may refer to as "club attire".
Ugh. I hate the connotations that come along with "club attire". Makes me think of too-tight mini skirts and bad rhinestones. There's a horrible idea that the clothes you wear to go out and party in must be tight and short and revealing, and if that's what makes you comfortable then go for it, girl! But all too often I see people self-consciously tugging at the hem of their skirts or limping in too-high heels (believe me; I live on the fraternity row, and these sights are far too common). No one is telling you that there's a certain way you must dress when you go out. No one will cite you with a ticket from the fashion police if your dress is not black, short, and/or low-cut.
It's time we embrace a new kind of going-out dress, one that isn't confined to such narrowing limitations. You can wear whatever you want when you hit the town! Just let these top fashion bloggers inspire you!

A mini-dress is the number one go-to for any girl looking to hit up 'da club, but don't be afraid to think in color or consider a new shape! Whites and beiges are seldom seen after dusk but you will be glowing in these colors (just be careful of any clumsy drink-holders).
If you're looking to add some sparkle to your look, consider dazzling hologram details like Chiara's Versace shift.

Whatever you wear, just be comfortable and confident in it! You are not required to limit your fashion creativity and wear another boring LBD just because Cosmopolitan tells you that that's what men find most appealing. Dress for you and have fun with what you are wearing! You'll be so happy that you did!

April is another busy month—Easter, Coachella and Stagecoach, the last month of classes, and so on—but I'm someone who functions well with a lot in my Lilly Pulitzer agenda, so I'm looking forward to another lovely month of activities and events. Plus, something really exciting is happening on the 21st of this month...I'm turning twenty-one! I am so excited to finally be able to check out all the cool bars and lounges that Los Angeles has to offer and try some sophisticated drinks.
With all that on the schedule for the month, I'm looking for some breezy-chic pieces that are versatile and perfect for spring. A nude crop top paired with flowy printed pants and slip-on mules is a perfect weekend brunch look, but the top can easily transfer to the evening when paired with a skater-style skirt and heels. I've been wanting mules ever since I wrote this post about them a while back, and the Madewell pair is perfect and simple—exactly what I look for in a pair of shoes!
I also fell in love with this Madewell pinafore dress; it's all about denim everything this spring, and a button-down pinafore alludes to the also on-trend button-down skirt as well as the denim overall, though this dress is more feminine than any pair of overalls (and therefore much more my style).

When the weather is this nice you can almost pretend that you're just on another week of Spring Break (but, you know, with the occasional class)! Back from my week in Mexico and—hopefully—looking a bit more tan, definitely feeling more relaxed, and ready to finish out the last six weeks of school.
I'm very into the idea of mixing formal and casual styles right now: a glittery work skirt with a T-shirt and sneakers, or a party-perfect dress with loafers and a jean jacket. I'm trying to find ways to reinvent items I already have in my closet and find new ways to mix and match styles.

On the way to class my friend Annie and I decided to check out the Amazebowls food truck, an acai bowl food truck that is always stationed on campus but that I've never actually stopped at until now! I'm usually one to roll my eyes at trendy LA health foods (ugh, juice cleanses) but I must admit that the acai bowl was a pleasant surprise! It's basically a smoothie with oats and fruit and it is so refreshing on a warm spring day. It's also a really filling meal and much healthier than most options around campus (Chipotle, you will be the death of me!).
I've already decided that I'm going to learn how to make acai bowls so that I can have them for lunch at my to-be-determined summer internship. Here are some recipes I found on Pinterest (my #1 addiction, you know) so you can DIY some acai too!
