As the Fashion Barbie, I'm always on the lookout for cutesy clothes that pay homage to the original Princess of Pink, Barbara Millicent Roberts (better known as Barbie). When Moschino did it's kitschy collection inspired by the famous doll I freaked, but unfortunately $800 for a pink sweatshirt or backpack is pushing it a little in terms of budget.
Thankfully, Moschino isn't the only one who is feeling inspired by Barbie as of late, as the clever and fun T-shirt brand Wildfox just launched a Barbie-themed collection full of bright pinks and Malibu dream house-worthy prints and colors.
My personal favorite is this simple pink tee emblazoned with the Barbie logo. On the back, a list of the many different jobs and careers Barbie has held over her fifty-odd years, proving that the blonde bombshell is more than just a pretty face.
For me, that's always been an important part of Barbie; for all the controversy about her figure and the emphasis on physical appearance, what I loved about the doll when I was little was that the possibilities of what Barbie could do or be were limitless. She didn't let anything hold her back, and if she wanted to be a fashion designer one day and a veterinarian the next, she went ahead and did it! Sure, her bust-waist-hips ratio is a little unrealistic, but—at least for me—Barbie was always about possibility and never limiting yourself, not an early form of conditioning myself to hate my own body.
But I digress. Anyways, I just think the shirt is cute. What say you?
The J. Crew x Sperry Top-Sider collaboration isn't breaking news, but I finally got around to purchasing a pair of brilliantly-hued boating shoes just this past week.
I had been eyeing the pink pair since mid-March, but wasn't sure if I should pick a pair of Sperrys in a less-practical hot pink or just go for a classic tan leather pair for the same price.
Of course all considerations of the practicality of buying a hot pink pair of Sperrys went out the door when I saw them on sale in stores. Sperrys on sale + extra 40% off sale items promotion + 15% student discount = one pair of flamingo pink Sperrys for a snazzy $30.
There's two things I absolutely love: a good deal and pink. These babies gave me both!
And, bonus points, they are super comfortable.

In the heat of summer it appears we have much in common with the wild animals of the African savannas. We flock to watering holes (pools, lakes, oceans, rivers) to refresh and replenish our thirst (preferably with cool tropical drinks and trashy novels to keep us company). It only makes sense that we draw inspiration from one of the inhabitants of the African plains - the mighty Pink Flamingo!
I'm always a fan of pink (it comes with the fashion barbie territory) and I love a good novelty print, so these flamingo picks are a match made in heaven. But seriously, I've been seeing birds everywhere I go. At Topshop last week there was a whole shelf of flamingo jewelry, and Tory Burch has a whole collection of flamingo-print clothes and accessories (in hot pinks and in cool blues). Or, if you just want to emulate the beta-carotene pink of the fancy birds, Tom Ford has a lipstick color inspired by flamingo plumes!
