For someone who vows to never dye her hair and thus change it from its natural blonde state, I sure do love colored hair. There are times when I wish I had been born with boring, mousey-hued hair; if only so I could wake up one day and decide to dye my hair pink if I so desired. Don't get me wrong, I love my gorgeous flaxen tresses (if I may toot my own horn) but sometimes I yearn for a little excitement.
When the whole dip-dye trend set in I was getting really antsy. Finally, something where I could dye part of my hair and then just cut it off when I was over it. But I was still scared to do that!
And finally, I found the solution: hair chalk. My friend had told me about the magical invention, a way to very temporarily (it washes out in the shower) color strands of hair. Perfect for going out and concerts (above, I added blue and red streaks for the WALK THE MOON concert on campus) hair chalk provided me the opportunity to color my hair without the risk of any permanent hair damage or loss of natural color!

At Urban Outfitters, a rainbow palette is available for those of you who love all the colors of the rainbow, or singular color that lasts longer.
This video has some good tips on how to chalk your hair. She uses regular art store soft pastels (not oil) so if you already have those you don't even need to go to the store!
I think the infinity scarf has been gaining momentum for a while, but over winter break and just tonight while browsing the new arrivals on Anthropologie's website I noticed an abundance of amazing scarves. They come in a variety of textures and colors/prints, so there is a loop for literally everyone out there.
And they are so cool! No more must we spend countless hours -okay, maybe only minutes, or seconds, but they add up!- readjusting and redoing our boring linear scarves. Just pop one of these babies over head and around your neck and you have a perfectly-bulky (but not too bulky) accessory! I highly recommend an infinity scarf to anyone who has ever been flustered by the constant undoing of a regular scarf. Knit ones work well for the cold, and linen scarves are perfect for spring and summer ensembles!
Lately I've been obsessed with Kate Spade's magazine-style tote bags, so imagine my surprise when on my birthday my mother revealed this fabulous Kate Spade tote with tennis players on it. Could it be more adorable!?!? It is perfect for summer and I cannot wait to bring it with me everywhere, starting this weekend in Santa Monica!
I've always been a fan of cupcakes because they trick you into thinking that they are healthier than a slice of cake and they are just so darn cute, so I'm always willing to try out a cupcakery when I get the chance. We have a small cupcake store where I live, but the cupcakes aren't all that spectacular. This Wednesday, however, after a long morning of hiking at the Torrey Pines State Reserve, my friend and I drove over to Sprinkles Cupcakes and took a few of these cute pastries home for dessert.
They come in a dazzling variety of flavors, and the cupcakes are presented in a rather minimalist fashion that only adds to the charm of the store. From a design point of view the displays are breathtaking, and if you don't give a hoot about the aesthetics of it all, well, the mini cakes still taste pretty darn delicious.
On a day like today you just don't question the fact that it is already March 9th and that spring is soon upon us. It's just so darn nice! Enjoying all this 70 degree weather has got me yearning for summer -because it feels like summer, except for that whole school thing- and naturally I'm looking for the perfect summer dress that I can wear while walking down to the beach over Spring Break. This Missoni dress has all the makings of a perfect beach dress: it's colorful, it's lightweight, and it's a freakin' Missoni! Pair with a wide-brim hat, Olsen-worthy shades, and a stellar bikini, and you're good to go!

Had my prom dress from last year not been so similar to this D&G dress, I would have been so tempted to get it. I simply cannot resist a full-skirted fifties-fueled baby blue dress.

Normally I am hesitant with yellow clothes, as I fear they may make me look too much like a yellow cupcake, but I love the cut of this Carven jacket. I love a good swingy box jacket. Plus, the camel piping and the curved lines really makes this jacket unique.
