The 2017 Oscars Red Carpet

February 27, 2017

Mahershala Ali, Emma Stone, and Viola Davis pose with their Oscars (I'm not missing anyone from this photo, am I...?)

It's Hollywood's biggest night!

What was shaping up to be a pretty run-of-the-mill Oscars ceremony became so much more in the final moments, when one of the La La Land producers (on stage, accepting the award for Best Picture) paused and said, "JK, this award is supposed to go to Moonlight!" (I'm paraphrasing but you get it). At first I wondered if this was a consolation acknowledgement, in the vein of Adele's nod to Beyonce at the Grammys, but no, the La La Land guy held up the winning envelope to the camera and, lo and behold, it read Moonlight.

Wild.

What will the nominees wear?

The biggest night in Hollywood is almost here! I've already filled out my ballot with my guesses on who will take home the big awards (get ready to hear La La Land a lot) but now it's time to turn my attention to the red carpet!

Hot fashion from across the pond

If you thought Fashion Week was just NYFW, you're in for a big surprise. The New York shows may have come and gone, but we're only halfway through! These past few days, the fashion in crowd has been gathered in London for some seriously cool runway shows. Burberry did a see now, buy now collection, as did Topshop Unique, and designers experimented with wild shapes, fascinating fabrics, and cartoon character motifs. Oh, London Fashion Week, you never cease to amaze!

Last thoughts on New York Fashion Week

Another New York Fashion Week has come and gone, but there's still plenty to talk about. Marc Jacobs delivered a stunning finale that put the focus back on the clothes, Thom Browne showcased his talent for inventive suiting, and overall, NYFW felt more diverse (both in terms of skin color and body type) than ever before.
