Feeling the conversation heart vibes lately.
Pastel colors may seem an odd choice for the middle of January, but I kind of love the idea of sweet pastels in the colder months. A baby blue coat is the perfect way to say no to boring neutrals during winter, as many people tend to do. So I challenge you to throw on the pastels no matter how out of place it may feel, and bring on the color! Chances are you will totally brighten someone's day with some much-needed color breaking up an otherwise dreary landscape.

My go-to look for Saturday morning brunch with friends is a dress and ankle boots, usually with a hat or fun accessory to mix things up, especially when said brunch is in the très trendy Arts District in downtown Los Angeles (aka where Jess & Co. live in New Girl).
I haven't had the chance to wear this Madewell dress that I got for Christmas much, so this was the perfect opportunity! However, for some reason I was feeling a bit frumpy once I put it on, not feeling the flowy shift shape. Some people would give up then and there and try to wear something else, but being the styling genius that I am (I know, so humble) I wrapped a skinny gold belt around my waist and pulled the dress up over the belt a bit to make it appear shorter and give my waist some definition. Voila! The dress is transformed, and so am I! The longer hemline is perfect for if I want to wear this dress to work or a more formal event, but a simple belt can make it a fun and flirty mini dress! It just goes to show you, never underestimate the power of accessories.
Also, thank goodness I didn't belt it too tightly because between the giant mocha (see picture below for proof of giantness) and a poached eggs and smoked salmon dish, I was stuffed! TY, Urth Caffé, you never disappoint!

Lately on my "Wishlist" Pinterest board (p.s. if you aren't following me on Pinterest, you're totally missing out) I've been pinning a lot of pink. Now, this shouldn't come as much of a surprise, seeing as how I am The Fashion Barbie. Pink comes with the territory.
But anyways, I thought I'd share my recent rose-hued picks with you guys! They range from affordable, realistic purchases to far-off fantasies (bubblegum pink Kelly, anyone?) because everyone should always have a fabulous designer handbag to dream about.

Restrained glamour was the overarching trend set on the 2016 Golden Globe red carpet, indicating a welcome shift in award show fashion.
The jokes of host Ricky Gervais may have been scandalous, but the red carpet was pleasantly free of any truly head-scratching moments. The stars of film and television ventured to the Beverly Hilton for good drinks, good laughs, and good company. Oh, and some of them even won awards. Cool!On the red carpet, things were sophisticated and glamorous, with no one going too over-the-top (except maybe for Jane Fonda's overwhelming ruffled frock) but rather showing a bit of restraint when it came to gown selections. Body-hugging column dresses and simple (but exquisite) design details made this year's red carpet an overwhelming success, though without any major jaw-dropping moments, either. But that's okay. I'd rather have everyone look good and struggle to find worst dressed candidates than struggle to weed out the successes from the flops.
My favorite looks followed a pattern, with most of them being either gold, white, or red dresses. I loved seeing so many white dresses; even though it's the dead of winter, we are still in Los Angeles. I always hate it when actresses think winter awards show=black dresses, because black dresses can be very challenging and often very boring. So good for you, Hollywood starlets, for picking gorgeous colors!
