WEARING: Forever 21 coat, Madewell T-shirt, Nordstrom skirt, Steve Madden boots, Chloe purse, and Urban Outfitters sunglasses |
Yes, you just spent yesterday checking everything off your Christmas list, BUT the work of a shopaholic is never done! There are dozens of insane sales going on right now through the end of 2017, so I'm rounding up my favorite picks from the sales!
Scroll below to see the clothes I'm eyeing for 2018 and the great deals on some seriously cute clothes:
For a festive holiday charity luncheon at Disneyland (my mom and I attend it each year) I wore a festive ruffle sweater in gorgeous silver metallic knit, and I wanted to share the details with you!
It's the holiday season, and you know what that means: gift guide time!
I'm sharing my personal wish list of fashion, beauty, and lifestyle items that are at the top of my Christmas list. Like any good Fashion Barbie venture, I've got a lot of pretty pink pieces on my mind, but with a healthy dose of high fashion rocker pieces like a faux leopard fur coat and the trendiest hat style of the moment.
Check out my wish list below, and don't forget to share what YOU'RE wishing for in the comments!
I am in love with the charming illustration on this T-shirt. Yes, $690 is a splurge for a cotton shirt, but hey, it's Gucci!
Every winter I dream of adding a leopard coat to my collection, so this might be the year it actually happens
You can never have too many mod-inspired skirts
Work-appropriate shoes with an edge
5. Gucci Purse
Can you guess that I'm a bit obsessed with Gucci at the moment? A girl can't help it!
I am not throwing away my shot...at seeing Hamilton while it's in LA and/or San Diego!
So I can take aesthetically-pleasing Polaroids and have an adorable flat lay prop, obviously
8. Brixton Hat
The fisherman cap is one of the trendiest accessories around and lately I've become more and more of a hat person
How cozy does this sweater look? I saw someone on Instagram wearing it and automatically tracked it down
10. ColourPop Set
Yes, I do get a lot of makeup for free at work, but I'm obsessed with ColourPop and their long lasting lippie sticks
I have officially succumbed to the LA Cult of Reformation; their clothes are incredible!
12. Ban.do Agenda
Because I can always do a better job of staying organized. Plus: stickers!
I'm in desperate need of a carry-on suitcase, and how can I say no to one that's in millennial pink?

Bonjour, mes amis!
No, you haven't been magically transported to France. It's me, Lindsey! And yes, I'm wearing a beret. I'm one baguette and Breton stripe shirt away from being a full-on francophile cliché, but I love it anyway!
What I'm Wearing:
Zara blazer
Reformation dress
Marc Fisher boots
Wildfox Couture sunglasses
Chloé purse
What I'm Wearing
BP blouse
Madewell skirt
Marc Fisher boots
Chloé purse
Urban Outfitters sunglasses
Looking for a way to shake up your everyday blouse without getting too crazy? Try a blouse with ruffles! I just found this great plaid top from BP at Nordstrom and already received so many compliments when I wore it the other day! What would otherwise be a masculine-looking top is made flirty and feminine with fun ruffles, and it's the perfect eye-catching detail to dress up even the simplest of looks.
I've rounded up some of my favorite ruffle tops for you to shop. Which one is your favorite?

Is there anything cooler than the classic white tee + jeans combo? I think not! It's classic Americana style. I'm absolutely obsessed with my new AGOLDE jeans that I found on Revolve; they're high-waisted, perfectly distressed, and the perfect loose (but not too loose) shape!
Wearing
Shirt c/o SheIn
Levi's skirt
Vince Camuto shoes
Zara purse
Vye sunglasses
While home in San Diego for Labor Day Weekend, I took this new top from SheIn out for a spin while finally checking out a popular Italian restaurant for lunch. The pizza was phenomenal and my outfit, if I say so myself, was even better!
This summer has absolutely flown by! 2017 marks the first year that I haven't had a summer vacation and it has certainly taken some adjusting to (hence the whole blog hiatus thing) and I cannot believe how quickly the months have passed.
Southern California has a notoriously late summer, with 80° days stretching far into October, so while other regions may be prepping their pumpkin spices and plaid flannels, I've got a ways to go before I'm ready to wear sweaters and boots.
For me, I try to embrace fall trends in summery styles. While browsing SheIn's new arrivals section, I was overwhelmed with cute pre-fall styles that will transition so well into fall.
Keep scrolling to see my pre-fall picks from SheIn!
At my job, we spend a lot of time talking about influencer marketing, and boy, is Revolve killing the game. With their FOMO-inducing influencer events and effortlessly cool clothes, everyone wants to be the Revolve girl these days.
I'm back! So sorry for the little hiatus, Fashion Barbie fans. Adjusting to blogging with a full-time job has been a lot, and for a little while I felt so busy that I couldn't really dedicate enough time to blogging. But I love sharing my outfits & fashion insights with you guys on this site, so I'm going to make it work!
Yes, that will mean more planning and organization on my part, but get ready, fellow fashion lovers, because good things are coming! More outfit posts, more style guides, and more runway trend breakdowns come September, when Fashion Week rolls around.
To kick things off, I wanted to share this adorable dress I found at Forever 21 a few weeks ago. It's so cute and soooo easy to wear, and while I told myself I need to stop buying off-the-shoulder things, I can't help it. This dress is just too good!

Feeling those French Riviera vibes
For the last two weeks my Instagram feed has been inundated with images of celebs lounging on yachts and traipsing down the red carpet at Cannes. As a result, I've found myself daydreaming about leaving on a jet plane and having my own vacation on the Riviera.
From gingham to off-the-shoulder tops to straw boater hats, everything I'm obsessed with right now has those Brigitte Bardot vibes (aka the ultimate Cannes girl) with a retro edge and a touch of nautica. It's feminine with a modern twist, and I plan on channeling this style all summer long. Who's with me?

I finally caved in and got myself a statement top
It's true: I finally caved in and bought a big-sleeved wrap-around top from Zara. Over the past few months I've been obsessing over these styles of tops, and over the weekend I was finally like, "Lindsey, you just gotta get one for yourself!" And I did! And it's fantastic!
The most stylish clothes around just went on sale!
I spend many hours (far too many hours) perusing Net-A-Porter for the latest in ready-to-wear, fantasizing about what I would wear in my daily life if I had access to an endless supply of money. Oh, if only I could live life in nothing but Chloé and Zimmermann and Marc Jacobs!
The no-hassle summer outfit
I'm in the process of packing up all my things (I'm moving to a new apartment!) so not a lot of time to write a thoughtful, in-depth analysis of this outfit, but wanted to share it with you guys real quick! I've previously discussed my obsession with woven purses, so I broke down and bought one for myself at Zara. Also, I found the cutest dress at Nordstrom a few weeks back, and I have a feeling I'll be wearing it all summer long.
Summer is almost here!
Memorial Day is a short two weeks away, which means it's time to stock up on some new swimsuits for Summer 2017! I'm rounding up some of my favorite swimsuit styles, from cute crochet bikinis to classic one-pieces. Keep reading and tell me which one is your fave!
Don't be scared of rocking some bright color!
Sometimes I think how easy it would be to be one of those people who only wears like, one color, or only neutrals. Everything goes with everything, you don't stress out about matching colors, and you always look so cool and effortless. And then...I see a rainbow floral dress.

Transform your outfit in a few easy steps
Here at The Fashion Barbie, I always try to be real with how I dress. When I post personal style outfits, they are always outfits that I actually wear in my everyday life, and often I pose for #ootd pics when out and about. When I do plan photoshoots, I only ever post outfits that I naturally wear. I may be a blogger, but I'm a real person who wears clothes in real life, so I always try to showcase that on my blog!
Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between
When this year's Met Costume Institute exhibition theme was announced, I was ecstatic. Rei Kawakubo, the iconic Comme des Garçons designer, is one of the most innovative minds in fashion, and her avant-garde styles rarely get the red carpet moments they deserve. To put it plainly, Comme des Garçons is not for the faint of heart, with wild shapes and dramatic silhouettes that few have the confidence to pull off. But surely the red carpet set at the Met Gala would be game?
It's not my birthday weekend 'til the birthday brunch!
If you've been following my blog for a while (or you're an irl friend; hi, friend!) you know that a big brunch party is a Fashion Barbie birthday tradition. Every year my friends and I throw on our sundresses, ready our glasses for some bottomless mimosas, and travel to a trendy LA brunch spot.

What will 23 bring?
Happy birthday to meeeeee!! Guys, I'm 23 now. How insane is that!? I cannot believe that a whole year has gone by since my 22nd birthday (of course, that is how that whole birthday thing goes; it's kind of a yearly thing) and it feels like so much has changed in the past year.

The preppy way to do festival style
Hey guys! I'm so sorry that posting has been a bit inconsistent lately. I try to post something every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but I've been quite busy with the new job and lots of other things going on, so my blog may be a bit weird in terms of schedule for the next few weeks. I promise I'll try to get back to my normal posting schedule soon, though!
Anyways, as I'm sure you know, Coachella Weekend One was this past weekend and the festival fashion was phenomenal! From the many Revolve parties to some seriously chic style on the festival grounds, there were too many good looks to choose from. I don't have time to do a full Coachella style recap, but I did want to share one of my favorite outfits from the weekend.
Selena Gomez has transformed into quite the style queen, and I adored her cheery flower print HVN dress with matching kerchief that she wore in Indio this past weekend. Paired with easygoing sneakers, this look is a fashionable take on festival style that is cute, practical, but not bordering on swimsuit territory, which is the direction many celebrities leaned towards for the music festival.
If you're looking for a more sophisticated alternative to cut-off shorts and crop tops, take Selena's sartorial cue and opt for a bright floral dress, and coordinate pieces too! It makes anyone look instantly put-together.

The fruits of spring are in full bloom, and it's time to wear some fun spring styles! Pineapples, lemons, cherries, you name it...all your fave fruits are printed on cute dresses, rompers, blouses, and pants.
Everyone from Dolce & Gabbana to Forever 21 is hopping on this trend, so no matter your budget, there are plenty of fruity tutti pieces for you!

Or, how to dress like a festival girl
Over the past year or so, I've developed quite the obsession with e-commerce site Revolve. Not only am I in love with the California-cool vibes of the clothes they sell, but I adore the aesthetic they promote on social media and the world they create that revolves (I know, I know) around their brand. Revolve has become the model of successful social media marketing, from their merry band of gorgeous influencers to their FOMO-inducing getaways in exciting locales like the Hamptons and Anguilla.
Zara Pom Pom basket |
And no, I'm not talking a basket for Easter eggs!
Happy Friday, friends! What are your weekend plans? Right now mine involve getting some spring shopping done at the Revolve Social Club open house and the new & Other Stories at the Americana! You?
And of course, one thing I've been lusting after is a perfect summer basket bag. I've been seeing them all week, toted around by bloggers like Adenorah and Emma Hill, and boy, do I want one for myself! If there's anything that will get you into the summer mood no matter where you are or what you're doing, it's a basket bag. They make any occasion feel like a summery picnic, and they are oh so chic.
I'm particularly obsessed with this Zara one, as well as this one from Doen, but alas, these brands are too cool for ShopStyle, so I'll round up some other trendy basket bags I also think you'll enjoy! Check it out:

Rock that desert style!
Heading to Coachella or another festival soon? Well, lucky you! You're bound to have a fantastic time, but do you know what you're going to wear!?!? Festival fashion is just as important as the musical headliners these days, and if you want to stand out from the crowd, you've got to dress to impress!
A pink-filled wish list for my birthday month!
April is one of my favorite months, and it's not just because it happens to be my birthday month! It's officially spring, the sun is shining, and it's a busy month full of festivities. If you're a festival girl, Coachella is just around the corner (I'll be sharing my Coachella outfit picks later this week!) and Easter is another excuse to buy a cute floral dress and eat an elaborate brunch. And yes, I happen to turn 23 this month, which is quite exciting! So here's what I'm wishing for during my birthday month:
Sometimes you just have to embrace the basic
Now that I work in West Hollywood, I've been spending more time on trendy Melrose at Insta-famous locales like Alfred Tea Room and the Paul Smith Pink Wall. Before having that 9-to-5 gig, I usually would go there in the middle of the day on a weekday to avoid the throngs of choker-wearing, phone-toting teens trying to snap a chic shot for their profiles. I love taking pictures in front of the pink wall as much as the next person, but I roll my eyes when I have to queue up just to pose in front of Carrera Café.

A mermaid's accessory of choice!
Have you ever had a dream about shoes? Because I have. Really! The other night, I awoke from my slumber with the most pleasant fantasy in my mind, where I wandered around sunny Los Angeles in a fresh pair of Gucci pearl-inlaid loafers. What a marvelous dream!
Exploring downtown in style
Over the last five years that I've been in Los Angeles, downtown has experienced exponential growth. There are new bars and restaurants opening up left and right, more apartment buildings, and new areas (like my current neighborhood, the Arts District) are expanding as we speak. I love that I've gotten to know DTLA so well over the past few years, thanks to its proximity to USC, and I love that even now I'm still exploring new places to go and new sights to see.
Good clothes don't have to cost a fortune
There are so many cute spring trends to try, but even though I'm officially getting that payday as a working girl (didn't you hear? I got a job!) I'm not exactly rollin' in the dough (yet). So yes, I want to wear embroidered denim and open-toed mules, but I don't want to break the bank trying to be fashionable either.
Every Barbie needs a pink dress!
Happy spring, friends! Oh, what a glorious time spring is. The clock has sprung forward, the sun is out, and the weekends are oh so fun. Now that I've officially started that working girl life (you read that right, Mission #HiretheFashionBarbie was a success!) I'm definitely appreciating my weekends more, and when the weather is this nice, it's not hard to!

There is no middle ground
I love sunglasses. They're a simple accessory that has the power to change the feel of a whole outfit, and there are so many shapes, colors, and styles to choose from! I guess I have a good face shape for sunglasses, too, because most of the time they don't look awkward on me (except for those rounded Ray-Bans that everyone has, they make me look like John Lennon and not in a cool way).
So when a new sunglasses trend takes over, I take notice. I obsessed over the Dior So Real shades that everyone wore last year. I was ecstatic when my mom found her old wayfarers from the 80s at the height of that trend a few years back (Vintage! So cool). And now, I'm noticing a new trend that people seem to either absolutely adore or completely loathe: oval sunglasses.
READY FOR SPRING! ASOS dress and Madewell sunglasses |
It's finally spring! Dress like it!
Okay, okay, I know the East Coast is currently in the midst of some bizarrely-late winter snowstorm, but here in California, it is fully-blown spring! And I don't know about you, but I'm dying to wear sundresses every day and get my spring fashion on.
Florals, ginghams, bright colors...I want all the dresses! Obviously. I've rounded up some of my favorite spring dresses below. Which one is your favorite?

Now that the shows are over, let's talk big picture
It's never too early to start thinking about next fall's most popular styles. Now that the Fall 2017 shows are over (check out all my favorite collections here), I've been looking back on my favorite collections and trying to pick out the biggest trends and recurring themes.
A picnic-perfect print!
I wore this outfit to brunch a few weeks back, when I was tired of constant rain and itching for spring. Now that the weather is finally warming up and the flowers are blooming, I thought I'd share this look with you!
The finale at Chanel Fall 2017 via Vogue |
The Fall 2017 shows ended with a trip to the stars
Since I was out of town for half of Paris Fashion Week, I wasn't able to write reviews on all the top runway shows, but I did want to share thoughts on three of my favorite collections from PFW. Miu Miu went over-the-top with fur of every color, Nina Ricci brought restrained sex appeal, and Chanel lifted off with a space-themed collection, complete with a rocket centerpiece at the Grand Palais that "launched" during the finale.

Hitting the slopes🎿
As a Southern California girl, I don't get to interact with snow very often. Thanks to the barrage of rain we received this winter, I can see the snowcapped San Gabriel mountains from downtown, but they're still quite a journey to get to. So at least once a year, I like to pick out the coats hiding in the back of my closet, gather up my scarcely-used winter accessories, and head to the mountains for some winter wonderland fun and plenty of skiing.
Free People ballet flats |
Tie it up in a bow!
From bodysuits to tulle skirts, ballet chic has been one of the biggest spring trends. Now, inspired by tie-up ballet flats and pointe shoes, designers are adorning their spring shoes with ribbons and bows.

Celebrating spring the downtown chic way
It has been well established that floral for spring are not groundbreaking, but you know what is? Making florals look cool and edgy! How does one do this, you ask? Stay away from classic pastels and go for punchy reds and moody blacks.
Mahershala Ali, Emma Stone, and Viola Davis pose with their Oscars (I'm not missing anyone from this photo, am I...?) |
It's Hollywood's biggest night!
What was shaping up to be a pretty run-of-the-mill Oscars ceremony became so much more in the final moments, when one of the La La Land producers (on stage, accepting the award for Best Picture) paused and said, "JK, this award is supposed to go to Moonlight!" (I'm paraphrasing but you get it). At first I wondered if this was a consolation acknowledgement, in the vein of Adele's nod to Beyonce at the Grammys, but no, the La La Land guy held up the winning envelope to the camera and, lo and behold, it read Moonlight.
Wild.

What will the nominees wear?
The biggest night in Hollywood is almost here! I've already filled out my ballot with my guesses on who will take home the big awards (get ready to hear La La Land a lot) but now it's time to turn my attention to the red carpet!

Hot fashion from across the pond
If you thought Fashion Week was just NYFW, you're in for a big surprise. The New York shows may have come and gone, but we're only halfway through! These past few days, the fashion in crowd has been gathered in London for some seriously cool runway shows. Burberry did a see now, buy now collection, as did Topshop Unique, and designers experimented with wild shapes, fascinating fabrics, and cartoon character motifs. Oh, London Fashion Week, you never cease to amaze!

Last thoughts on New York Fashion Week
Another New York Fashion Week has come and gone, but there's still plenty to talk about. Marc Jacobs delivered a stunning finale that put the focus back on the clothes, Thom Browne showcased his talent for inventive suiting, and overall, NYFW felt more diverse (both in terms of skin color and body type) than ever before.

New York Fashion Week continues, and there have been plenty of fabulous collections. I've already talked about some of my early favorites, and today, I'm gonna talk about some more of my fave runway shows.
