I've always admired the delicate art of perfectly layering necklaces and combining different rings for a kickass jewelry look. As I continue to grow my jewelry collection and experiment with different layering techniques, I've been turning to Pinterest for some styling inspiration.

Here are a few of my favorite ideas, and don't forget to follow me on Pinterest for more inspiration!

The Week in Pictures

June 29, 2015

Another fun summer week of beaching it up, hanging out with good friends, eating delicious food, and checking out the latest movies! I got to see Inside Out, the new Pixar movie (seriously, go see it, it's so good) and finally try out Puesto, a cool Mexican restaurant downtown (spoiler alert: it was just as delicious as I had been told).

Saturday was jam-packed. I went on a hike in the morning, attended my friend's sister's bridal shower, and then made my way to Petco Park for some good-old-fashioned summer baseball. Go, Padres!

Check out the highlights from my week:

Sunday

Blood Rose Cocktail (dried rose petals, tequila, and blood orange soda) and a view at dinner

Monday

When your eyeliner is on point so you need to take a selfie :)

Wednesday

Movie night! Saw Inside Out and absolutely loved it
Wearing Joie tank, J. Crew skirt, Madewell jacket, Sam Edelman sandals, and Rebecca Minkoff purse

Insta-Style — The 4th of July

June 26, 2015

image via Wildfox Couture
One of my favorite days of the year, the 4th of July, is just over a week away! Home in San Diego we take Independence Day quite seriously (in part due to the large military population) and by serious I mean we get down all day long. Festivities begin with bagels and bloody Marys at 7am sharp, there's a parade, and then we barbeque until the sun goes down and the fireworks go off.

Planning one's 4th of July outfit, then, becomes just as important as picking out a prom or a wedding dress. Concocting a patriotic outfit with the perfect ratio between red, white, and blue is an artform, carefully crafted over the years.

Some choose the full-on America, F Yeah! approach; think American Apparel flag leggings, bandana headbands, and bro tanks. Others go the sundress route, usually striped in blue & white or red & white, with a statement accessory in the third color.

Me? I'm thinking somewhere in between this year, with my new Urban Outfitters button-down denim skirt that I'm obsessed with, my trusty high-tops, and a vintage T-shirt.

In case you haven't thought of your 4th of July look yet, here are some outfit ideas to get you inspired, brought to you by the fashion bloggers of Instagram.

These Companies are Making Your Life Easier

June 25, 2015

Outdoor Voices | Box Fox Instagram
People are really busy these days. Between working, going to school, trying to have a social life, having an on-point Instagram, and catching up on the latest season of True Detective, we really don't have a lot of idle time. We're lucky if we get the chance to sneak out to a movie (and I mean one in theatres, not just sidling up to your laptop and opening up Netflix) or enjoy a leisurely Saturday without having errands to run.

Luckily, many brands have recognized the fact that people are incredibly busy these days and they know that you want quality clothes and beauty products without having to wade through thousands of options (which, if you've ever used Shopstyle, you know that there are literally thousands of versions of any one particular clothing item; it can be quite overwhelming). I want my one-stop shopping and be able to walk away with everything I need with just a click of a button.

Below are some of my favorite curated kits that make shopping so much easier.

Outdoor Voices

The OV x Man Repeller kit
With Lululemon being co-opted by suburban moms, where does the fashion crowd turn to for chic workout attire? Look no further than Outdoor Voices, the coolest fitness brand that actually makes me want to work out. I first heard about OV through their collaboration with one of my favorite fashion blogs, Man Repeller, and I love the cool designs available at Outdoor Voices. But the best part? They also have clothing kits so that you can have a whole look sent to you, ready to go. I'm a big fan of the charcoal colorway, but the Man Repeller kit is also a must-have.

Box Fox

The Festival box from Box Fox
When you live a busy life, chances are you've got plenty of social events on your calendar. Birthdays, weddings, office gatherings, you name it. And while you would love to get every single person in your life a meaningful, thought-out gift, sometimes you just don't have the time. That's where Box Fox comes in. They have carefully-curated gift boxes for all sorts of occasions, featuring trinkets and goodies from brands like Kate Spade, Voluspa, and Rifle Paper Co.

You can send a sweet gift to your boss during the holidays, celebrate a friend's new baby, or even get a gift for yourself (I love the festival and travel kits, personally), and Box Fox has just introduced the ability to totally customize your order for a truly unique gift. Nice!

Net-a-Porter

The Summer Kit from Net-a-Porter Beauty
Summer is a time for weekend getaways and jetset adventures, and jetset adventures call for fresh-faced beauty looks. High-end online retailer Net-a-Porter has curated a delightful beauty kit full of best-sellers so that all your summer beauty needs are met. The best part? Pretty much everything is small enough to go on your carry-on and not be tossed out by TSA, so you are ready to go anywhere.

Would you buy a curated kit?

How to Wear Your Blazer on Your Night Out

June 24, 2015

Maybe it's because I've not yet entered the working world, but the idea of suits and blazers has always intimidated me. Too Hillary Clinton for me, too 1980s working woman, too serious. They've always felt stiff and boring, but lately I've been changing my tune when it comes to suits, partly because fashion designers have worked tirelessly to make them cool again.

Seriously! suits have been all over the runways, and when worn in a tailored, fitted manner (no shoulder pads here) they can look quite chic.

And for Resort 2016, designers are making suits utterly sexy by styling jackets as low-cut shirts. Button low on the waist and wear nothing underneath, and you've got yourself a sultry night-out look.

If you're one of those people who loves a day-to-night outfit, wear your favorite tailored suit with work-appropriate additions (think: a shirt underneath), then just take the shirt off and leave your blazer on for after-hours cocktails. Et voila!

Get Your Pom Pom On

June 23, 2015

Colorful pom pom trim dress from Lazy Oaf via Keiko Lynn
If you skew more country club than Coachella, you may be looking for an alternative trim to the hippie-ish fringe. Enter pom pom trims and accents! A pom pom trim around the hem of your skirt or your sleeves is an adorable way to add an accent of intrigue to your outfit and create fun movement. Pom pom trims essentially work the same way as fringe does, but personally I think pom pom trims make for a more structured accent while still remaining fun and exciting.

There are plenty of clothes right now that feature pom pom accents (scroll down below for my favorite pieces to shop!) or, if you're handy with a sewing machine and love a good DIY project, you could add a trim to an old pair of shorts or a T-shirt.

The Week in Pictures

More organizing and relaxing this week! My brand new ban.do planner arrived in the mail and I am already obsessed. It came with a booklet of 700 super fun stickers, too!
