How do you style your jewelry?

Last fall it was all about the single earring à la Céline or Louis Vuitton. That was cool, but maybe a bit lopsided. Somewhere, a chic Charlotte Gainsbourg-type fashionista is walking around Paris with a totally off center of gravity thanks to her dedication to the Church of Phoebe Philo. The single earring trend was fun while it lasted, but one ear is always feeling left out. It's time to bring the earring pair back.
But if two of a kind is too pedestrian for you next-level ladies, consider mixing and matching different earrings for an original, totally unique look that doesn't make you tilt your head. Mix metals like the models of the Adam Lippes fall 2015 presentation, or combine a baroque teardrop with a modern sculptural design. Just because you're wearing two earrings doesn't mean you have to be totally balanced, so why not mix and match? It will save you the Sophie's Choice of deciding between your two favorite pairs—just wear one of each!

Why purchase a ring and a bracelet when one item can do the trick?
I've been noticing more and more hand chains when I browse online shopping websites, and I must say I do like them. Like the recent resurgence of the anklet, the hand chain harkens back to a bohemian jewelry style that is making a comeback as of late.
Hand chains are edgy and dainty all at the same time. They are delicate in that they are composed of thin metal chains, but the overall look of a hand chain is completely unique.
One could wear a simple LBD and elevate her cool factor by adding a cool hand chain as her key accessory. I wouldn't try to upstage such a unique piece of jewelry with loud prints—that is, if you want your cool new trendy jewelry to be the center of attention.
Personally I feel that hand chains look their best when they are worn alone, rather than mixed with additional pieces of jewelry. If you insist on having a hand/arm party a la The Man Repeller, then I would suggest mixing and matching rings and bracelets on the other arm.
Additionally, the hand chain is definitely a piece for a night out, though it would be just as cool to wear it unexpectedly during the day with a casual look. Hold onto a cool clutch or a sleek iPhone case and you'll be sure to draw plenty of attention to your new bling.

There is a true art to masterful layering, and it is an artform that never ceases to amaze me. A well-layered group of necklaces or a creative pairing of sheer top and lace bralette can transform a dull outfit into a glorious ensemble. Though layering can be challenging at times, the end result is always stunning, which is why I am constantly experimenting with new combinations and mixes.

Once upon a time safety pins were simply handy tools used to take in a too-loose dress or prevent an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction at the school dance. Then they became a staple of the punk fashion movement, adorning everything from leather jackets to silk dresses. But we live in a brave new world where the punk accessory and handy styling tool has evolved into a full-fledged fashion statement.
Versus, the Versace diffusion line, has a slew of safety pin-adorned shirts, skirts, and dresses if you aren't looking to DIY your punk pieces.
But beyond that, safety pins have become an increasingly popular motif in the jewelry world. It makes sense to take an item that is already made of metal and dip it in gold, add some diamonds and some chains, and turn it into a statement piece.
Earrings, bracelets, and necklaces have all gotten the safety pin treatment. Both high-end and affordable jewelry brands are fans of the trend, so there's a safety pin piece for every budget. And you don't need a mohawk or studded leather jacket to rock the trend; these jewelry pieces are sassy enough to give a bit of edge to your ensemble but are not overwhelming, so even the preppiest of preps can wear the trend.

| Social Media Ring Set - C Wonder |
While shopping today my mom and I ventured into C Wonder (a fabulous preppy store full of brightly colored clothes, cute accessories & home decor) and I stumbled upon this awesome set of rings.
I've been dying to try out the stacked ring trend and I could not resist these cheeky designs. I love the idea of wearing a hashtag or an ampersand and turning a text symbol into art! Totes Tres chic.
I also found a fabulous pair of black heeled Chelsea boots at C Wonder, a gorgeous green Marc by Marc Jacobs dress at Nordstrom, and a fabulous Genie by Eugenia Kim felt hat at Anthropologie. Quite the successful saturday at Fashion Valley, if I do say so myself.
Lately I've been obsessed with the fun, colorful costume jewelry that J. Crew has to offer. Colored crystals, shiny metallics, and bold enamels - what's not to love?
Well, there is the price of J. Crew jewelry (and a lot of jewelry in general - I'm looking at you, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, and basically every store that I shop at with cool but overpriced jewelry) and if you don't hit the store on a sale day like I did when I found the above necklace (which is still a pretty modestly sized piece, PLUS it was an additional 15% off thanks to my student discount) it can be hard to find a fabulous necklace on a dime.
So imagine my delight when I was recently informed that there are artists on Etsy that make similar-style jewelry to the looks at J. Crew!
There are plenty of cool statement necklaces for a much more affordable price on Etsy. Just look up "j. crew necklaces" and you'll find dozens of pieces. Here are some of my favorites.

Of course, sometimes nothing beats the original. Here are some necklaces from J. Crew that I just cannot get enough of (including the one I own, if you like it too!)

I'm in love with their Fall 2012 Jewelry Collection, and I usually don't geek out over jewelry (I mean yeah I love sparkly things and all that but frankly I find most jewelry overpriced, especially for plastic pieces and fake diamonds). And these pieces are overpriced, that's for sure, but they are soooo pretty that you can kind of overlook that Juicy is asking $148 for a cuff (albeit a gorgeous cuff).
The color pallet of purple, gold, black, and silver and art-deco geometric shapes are what's got me goin' crazy (a la Britney) so if that's your kind of thing then go for it! Me, I'm now a poor college student, so I'll just oogle at these shiny beauties over cyberspace.
