Perfecting the shopping outfit formula
Shopping in August is weird because it's 90° outside but you're buying stuff for the fall, like boots and sweaters, so it can be tricky to get into the autumn mood. So when I go shopping this time of year, I'm looking for transitional pieces, aka things that can be worn both now and later. I'm hoping to do a post that discusses that more in-depth soon, so stay posted, but for now, check out what I wore to go shopping this weekend!
When I go shopping, there's a good chance I'll be trying clothes on (obviously) so a good shopping outfit should be simple and easy to take on and off. Always start with basic nude undergarments that won't distract or distort from anything you try on (I usually wear a nude T-shirt bra and a Hanky Panky thong). From there, it's up to you, but I almost always wear a printed dress. It's an easy one-and-done look that's still eye-catching and fun. Zippers, buttons, and other closures should be kept to a minimum; the best outfit for shopping is one that can be thrown on and off without much trouble.
You may recognize the dress from my birthday weekend brunch outfit. I'm totally obsessed with the tropical print and love it for summer. Because it's silky, I threw on my trusty Madewell denim jacket to dress it down a bit. And, because the monogram is back in and I remembered I had this old Gucci purse hanging in my closet, I took it for a spin. Isn't the pink strap fun?
As for actual purchases, I struck out at the Anniversary Sale unfortunately, but I did find a super cute Anthropologie dress that will work for all seasons! Yay! Then my mom and I went to go see Bad Moms because why not? It was pretty funny, plus the movie theatre had air conditioning lol.
Wearing:
Madewell jacket and sunglasses
Vince Camuto sandals
Gucci purse (similar style)
C. Wonder bracelet (similar here)
