Top trends from London and Milan

Fall may have just started yesterday, but we're already looking forward to spring in the fashion world. London Fashion Week has come and gone (so has NYFW, if you missed that recap) and we're in the midst of Milan Fashion Week. There's some great stuff coming from across the pond, so here's the rundown on the top trends and collections from the past week:

Far East Movement

Prada | Gucci | Prada
Prada and Gucci looked to the east for runway inspiration this season. Mandarin collars, dragon motifs, and luxurious silks paraded down the catwalks in Milan. I'm loving Prada's modern take on the Mandarin collar, with some added fur trim for good measure.

Time Machine

Erdem | Gucci | J.W. Anderson | Gucci | Erdem
The 1800s and the Age of Imperialism were of particular interest to fashion designers this season. Brocades and jacquards have been trending for fall, too, but for Spring 2017, ultra-traditional silhouettes took over. Gucci and Erdem went full-on Victoriana, while J.W. Anderson, among others, offered a 21st-century interpretation with corset details and high necklines in modern fabrics.

Glam Glitter

Beauty looks from Fendi via Vogue
What Kylie Lip Kit? The impossible-to-get makeup product of the season is Pat McGrath's lipstick kit, which allows any bold individual to adorn one's lips with glitter and crystals. Fendi isn't the first to feature glitter lips, but oh man, was I about the beauty look. Along with dazzling lips, models rocked graphic lips and cutesy hairdos with plenty of clips and berets, making for a sexy, girly beauty look. Excuse me while I try to achieve Gigi's exact beauty look for myself.

Statement Sleeves

Preen | Gucci | Marques ' Almeida | Erdem | Emilia Wickstead
Who needs muscular arms when you can just fake it with poofy sleeves? Exaggerated shoulders, ruffles, and bell sleeves were all over the runways, and it's a statement look I can get behind.

What are your favorite runway collections from Fashion Month?

  1. I feel like this week went by so fast! I haven't been able to check out neither LFW nor MFW (just a few Instagrams here and there), but judging by this great recap it seems like it's been amazing! (Hopefully) I'll be posting my favorite looks from London tomorrow, don't forget to check it out.
I just read your NYFW recap. From this season, which city do you think has had the better shows so far?
BTW, that last Emilia Wickstead dress is absolutely everything 🙌.
