What I Wore | Polka Dot Wall

October 28, 2016

Live colorfully!

When it comes to documenting a clutch outfit, a gorgeous backdrop is just as important as the clothes you're wearing. Luckily for me, downtown Los Angeles has no shortage of cool painted walls to photograph, and this week we hit up a famous one in my new neighborhood to use as the background for one of my go-to outfit combinations.

The Polka Dot Wall by The Most Famous Artist (yup, that's his stage name) is in the back of a yoga studio/juice bar/hang out spot/crystal shop (I know, a weird combination of things, but it's really cool) called The Springs, and it's just as cheery and colorful as one would expect. You know me, I love a good rainbow pattern, so obviously I was stoked to check this cool art wall out.

As for the outfit, this is a classic Lindsey look: chambray button-down, black brocade skirt (just the right amount of fancy and shimmer) and cool mules. To accessorize, I threw on a black floppy hat, a lovely J. Crew necklace, and my new Chloé Drew purse! Yes, after months of pining after it, I finally got it! Get ready to see it in every outfit post and Instagram, lol.

Anyway, this is an easy outfit to recreate, and I love that you can really wear it for a manner of occasions. As is, it's a chic look for brunch or coffee downtown. Take off the hat and you've got a work-ready look. Switch out the skirt for black jeans and you're casual-cool. See? It's all about switching up one or two things for the given occasion, but this look is a great starting-off point when you're feeling uninspired or just need a uniform to fall back on.
