What I Wore | California Fall

How Los Angeles Does Autumn

Halloween weekend is next week. According to Starbucks, after that, it's Christmas (or at least time for holiday cups) and yet here I am in LA, still wearing my cutoffs and sweating much more than anyone should outside of a gym. Oh, how I yearn to trade my iced lattes for cinnamon-spiced hot chocolates and cozy up in an oversized sweater! The weather has other plans; it hit 90° on the day of this photoshoot and is supposed to be unseasonably warm all weekend.

But California girls, rejoice! You may not be able to wear your coats and sweaters quite yet, but you can incorporate fall favorites into your autumnal style, even when it's still hot out. Here's how to do fall style the southern California way:

Wearing

Dress c/o Tobi
Madewell scarf
Steve Madden boots (similar here)
Forever 21 socks

The easiest way to dress for fall no matter the weather is to alter your color palette. Switch out summery brights for rich colors like burgundy, emerald, and mustard. I love this dress from Tobi (the online store, not my dog lol) because the color is perfect for the season, but it's lightweight enough to wear all year round! Because it's sleeveless, I can wear a scarf and boots without overheating.

Once the weather does cool down, I want to wear this dress with black tights and either an army jacket for a daytime look, or a chic double-breasted coat for an evening outfit.

How would you style this dress for fall?
