Styling Tips from Madewell's Spring Lookbook

January 20, 2017

Outfit inspiration for days

It's no secret that Madewell is one of my favorite clothing brands. They're casual cool pieces are just simple enough to be everyday staples, but exciting enough to not be considered boring. At this point, I'm sure half of my wardrobe is Madewell, including all of my jeans and plenty of button-down tops, skirts, and dresses.

One thing I've always loved about Madewell is their knack for styling and presenting a clear image of who the "Madewell girl" is. On its own, an individual item might seem simple, but when you see how it is styled in an outfit on Madewell's website or Instagram, you see the endless possibilities of how to utilize said item in your ensembles.

The Madewell Spring 2017 lookbook is hot off the presses, and once again I am full of outfit envy. This season, the Madewell girl is all about easy going pieces she can wear on all her adventures. Gingham prints, breezy fabrics, and high-waisted shorts are some of the staples of this collection.

You can pre-order some of the pieces here, but until the full collection lands in stores and online, here are some styling tips I picked up from the lookbook:

Pajama tops aren't just for sleeping

Tucked into denim shorts and topped off with a straw hat, this is an outfit that will take your pajama top out of bed and onto the streets.

Head-to-toe gingham is the way to go

If you like a print, go big with it!

A button-up can transform into an off-the-shoulder top

This styling trick captures the sultriness of the off-the-shoulder trend while maintaining a masculine edge.

Leather jackets can work for spring

This look is classic French cool girl. Très chic

You can never have enough pink

Mixing different shades of light pink are the key to winning over any Fashion Barbie.

Tied shirts are more interesting than belts

Bring back the kindergarten styling trick of tying your sweatshirt/shirt around your waist. It's laid back and creates the perfect amount of shape definition!
