Ah, March. The true beginning of spring and more importantly, the month of Spring Break. This year I will be heading south of the border on a Mexican Riviera cruise with some of my friends, and naturally that means a few shopping preparations must be made! 

The main thing I'm in search of: a new swimsuit. Living in Southern California you learn there's no such thing as having too many swimsuits, and the chic modern tribal prints of Mara Hoffman are a personal favorite of mine, lately. Perfect for tanning on the lido deck or when we dock in Cabo. 

Sunglasses are always a must, but especially when one is tanning from sun-up to sun-down.

Rompers are another warm-weather vacation necessity, since they can work as one-stop pool cover-ups, easy outfits for excursions and activities, or you can dress them up and wear them to a lovely dinner on the beach. Same can be said for a flouncy cami top.

Jean shorts are perfect for the pool and beyond, and since I have a few in the usual blue, perhaps a black pair would add some sophistication to the off-duty staple. Likewise, a pair of criss-cross slide sandals are just as easy to slip on and off as a pair of Rainbows, but perhaps a little more stylish. A backpack is an easy way to keep belongings together safely.

And a cute charm bracelet because why not?

Summer, to me, is about easy and effortless style. You can look awesome without intricate layers or dazzling coats. A crisp black and white outfit is all you need, and by mixing sultry (cut-outs and leather) with playful (sneakers and beach-print pouches) you get the perfect balance of styles. 

I've been obsessing over stacked rings and am eager to grow my jewelry collection. These pieces from Catbird and Vita Fede are gorgeous and remarkably well-priced for the quality. 

Mirrored sunglasses are incredibly chic and perfect for those bright summer days, and I have been a huge fan of the "Clubmaster" shape from Ray-Ban. I know I don't need another pair of sunglasses to add to my already large collection, but if I had to add another pair it would be these guys.

No "May Gray" here, the mercury is rising and it is hot, hot, hot! Thank goodness finals have just ended and I am officially on summer vacation time because the heat is unbearable unless the days are spent pool or beach side. 

Swimsuit style is a lot of fun - you can wear bold prints and bright colors and look absolutely amazing with minimum effort! I am absolutely obsessed with Mara Hoffman's eclectic tribal print pieces as well as the classic selections from J. Crew. There are so many great prints, shapes, and colors for swimwear out there right now, there is literally a swimsuit for everyone.

Cover-ups are tricky, but I am a big fan of this Lemlem one with ombre pink stripes. Usually I just go for a knit tank dress or other easy-going shift, or even use a scarf as a sarong for the trek over to the beach.

A leather slip-on sandal is just as comfortable and easy as a flip flop, but the two-tone Joie ones are a slightly more stylish alternative to the usual Rainbow sandals. A carry-all tote that can fit your colorful striped towel, sunscreen, and a good beach read is a must. And of course, sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sunshine and also just because people look 150% more badass when they wear sunglasses.
