All My Favorite Outfits From This Year
Now that I've recapped the biggest fashion moments of 2016, it's time to reflect on a personal style level. Each and every year, I feel like I'm honing in on my own unique brand of style a little bit more, and this year I definitely experimented with new trends, brands, and looks. I branched out with new brands, explored areas of downtown Los Angeles to use as backdrops, and focused on presenting a stylish, elevated, yet still realistic look to share with all of you. What a year it's been
2016 has been an interesting year, to say the least. I graduated from USC (yay!) but am still working on that whole job thing (not yay). Superhero movies were meh this year, but at least Rogue One and Arrival were good. We elected a man with a spray tan and bad hair as president, and we lost a lot of fashion icons and generally wonderful celebrities this year, so yeah, it's been a weird year with lots of ups and downs.

Merry & Bright!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I know I did! As always, it was a lovely weekend filled with friends, family, and food, so obviously it was lovely. I'm off on a little road trip this week, so I may only update the blog once this week, but I'll keep you all updated on my Facebook page so you know when the latest Fashion Barbie content hits.

Music for dancing around the Christmas tree
One of the best parts about the holiday season is the Christmas music that takes over radio stations. I'm obsessed with Christmas music, and starting the day after Thanksgiving, you can find me blasting Mariah Carey classics and Nat King Cole.A gift ready to lead Santa's sleigh via Studio DIY |
Prepare for pretty presents!
I love Christmas presents, but not for the reason you think. Yes, receiving chic items off your wish list from loved ones is exciting, but I love shopping for presents even more than I love getting them, and most importantly, I love wrapping presents!
Getting in the holiday spirit!
The Fashion Barbie is finally home for the holidays! Lucky for me, my family recognizes that I am the #1 Christmas Elf around, and leaves the tree unornamented until I come home each year. Once I'm home, I blast some Christmas music (preferably Mariah Carey's iconic "All I Want For Christmas Is You"), sip some hot chocolate, and get to work!

When the weather is gray, bring the color!
I've been told that it's quite cold in most of the country right now. It's raining here in Los Angeles so I feel your pain. This time of year, in the dead of winter, it's easy to make like the gloomy weather and stick to dull grays and somber blacks, but I have a challenge for you: combat the dreary weather with a colorful coat!Stand out on New Year's Eve |
Don't be afraid to dazzle!
Sequins tend to make their way into every New Year's Eve soiree, but who says the clothes should have all the fun? This holiday season, I'm daring you to step up your party makeup game with a daring, dazzling beauty look! That's right, I'm telling you to add some glitter to your NYE look.Balenciaga | Michael Kors Collection | Emilio Pucci | Miu Miu |
For a fresh new year
We're all pretty much ready for 2016 to be over. Luckily, the color experts at Pantone are already looking to 2017, and they have an optimistic view for the new year.Photo via Chanel |
Chanel heads home for it's annual Métiers D'Art collection
Rome. Mumbai. Dallas. Over the years, Karl Lagerfeld has taken the annual Chanel Métiers D'Art collection (the brand's version of Pre-Fall) all around the world, celebrating the fashions of cultures near and far while also displaying the fine craftsmanship of Chanel's artisan partners. But this year, Chanel stayed close to home, with guests travelling to the newly-renovated Ritz Paris for lunch and a runway show (and a party the night before, of course). The art of layering
Bodysuits were a big trend this spring, and based on a recent trip to The Grove, they're just as popular for fall, too! I have quite a few bodysuits in my wardrobe, but all of them are rather daring, with either off-the-shoulder cuts or deep necklinces. In the summer, all you have to do is pair with a flowy skirt or cute cut-off shorts, and you're good to go, but colder temperatures call for more layers.
