That's right, chokers and bolos are totally trending.
If the bandana was the neck-based trend of 2015, then the choker is the 2016 version. Your fave 90s accessory is back in full swing thanks to the approval of style influencers around the world. Everyone from Aimee Song to Gigi Hadid has been rocking tightly-wrapped necklaces lately. The choker trend has even branched out to include bolos, wraps, and lariats.
For a truly fashionable style statement, stick to black fabric (velvet and leather, especially) and silver or gold details. For chic, celeb-approved necklaces, check out Fallon or Vanessa Mooney (or scroll below to see plenty of options to shop!)
In terms of styling advice, I love chokers and bolos with an off-the-shoulder top; it keeps your decolletage from looking completely naked. Chokers also look great with dainty silk tank tops and camis, and lariats pair perfectly with V-neck tops and dresses.

I can't tell if I love or hate it yet.
I've worked hard to get over my middle school years. I had bad acne and didn't know how to do my hair or makeup and thought wearing a tunic dress over bootcut jeans was the height of fashion. I wore Ugg boots with jean shorts and Abercrombie polos. I cringe when I think back on those years of my sartorial development. How in the world did I ever think that was cool?
Of course, everyone has similar thoughts when thinking back on the styles they rocked during the early 2000s. No matter how young or old, the beginning of the twenty-first century was fraught with trucker hats, denim mega-minis, and other incredibly regrettable fashions. I would do anything to go back to 2006 and dress like a normal person before it became cool.
But now that I've finally grown out of that horrible awkward stage, the trends of the early 2000s are coming back! What!? No, stop, get away from me! Seriously though. Selena Gomez is rocking polo shirts like she's at a middle school dance, Kendall Jenner is bringing back the tracksuit (Juicy Couture will rise again!) and denim mini skirts are freaking everywhere. Tell me now, are Ugg boots going to have a resurgence because I might just cry if that's the case.
All these styles that I've worked tirelessly to forget are suddenly back in style, and I'm quite conflicted. On the one hand, these styles bring my back to the dark days of fashion, and yet...I find myself trying on denim skirts at Urban Outfitters and searching for a cute skirt online! What is happening, 2016!? We've got an oompa loompa running for President and Kylie Jenner trying to bring back the Von Dutch hat. What a weird time.
At least the 2016 versions of early-aughts styles are updated for a modern aesthetic. Polos are done in elegant lace. Track suits come in neutrals and are made of luxurious fabrics. Bootcut jeans are higher waisted than their hip-hugging ancestors. So while the styles themselves may harken back to an era full of embarrassing fashions, their modern iterations are a little more bearable.

What early 2000s trends do you want to see again?
Picnic chic via Shot by Gio |
The must-have purse for summer
First thing's first: we really need to make picnics a thing again. Like, I want one of those picnic baskets with all the compartments to hold your special picnic-only silverware, and I want to eat cheese and charcuterie on a gingham blanket and gossip with friends, preferably in the Jardin de Luxembourg. I'd wear a cute midi dress and a straw boater hat and life would be good. Ahhh...
But whether your summer is full of Parisian picnics or days at the office as usual, you can live the picnic lifestyle with a basket bag. This trend has been slowly making its way to the forefront of the fashion world, and now, in the heights of summer, it's the handbag trend of the season. Rachel Comey has been a particularly dedicated adopter of the style, offering woven purses in simple, modern shapes. Saint Laurent has a fringe version for the summering rockstar type, and Dolce & Gabbana features colorful pom pom versions for the maximalists out there.
No matter your personal style, there's a basket bag for you! And because most are offered in a neutral blonde, they can go with pretty much anything.

She's just so cool!
Teens these days. Thanks to social media, they're way more connected than ever, learning how to contour and find the latest fashion trends before they learn trigonometry. I've been a fashion lover for a long time, but let's be honest, I had an awkward stage that really only ended once I got to college and learned the importance of eyebrow maintenance (tbh I've still never shaped them, but I do fill them in bc otherwise they're so translucent and blonde that it looks like I don't have eyebrows at all! It's the worst). Anyways, teens are so cool these days, and Zendaya is probably one of the coolest.
You know her from Disney and her burgeoning music career as well as that one time Giuliana Rancic controversially called out her dreadlocks at the Oscars (let Zendaya do what she wants, G!), and she's one style star you should be watching. At 19, Zendaya is having plenty of fun with fashion as she experiments with different styles and trends, and I love when younger celebrities enjoy fashion and try different things instead of dressing like they wish they were 30.
Aside from her killer fashion sense, Zendaya is a poised and elegant young woman who speaks up about important issues, and she just seems like a lovely girl! Anyways, I wanted to share some of my favorite outfits that Zendaya has worn recently!

New purchases from Madewell that are perfect for summer!
I'm very tired as I'm writing this so I apologize for not writing a super witty little thing today, but I just wanted to share this outfit with you guys! Last weekend my mom and I went shopping and I finally found a pair of cutoff jean shorts that I liked!!! (seriously guys, I've been looking for YEARS for a pair that fits perfectly on my small-waist-but-wide-hipped body, and it's even harder than you think) They aren't vintage Levi's 501s but they do come from one of my favorite stores, Madewell!
In addition to the shorts, I also got the cute little knit tank top that I'm wearing. I love it because it's a fun layering piece that goes with a lot and has interesting details (the back buttons up) that'll be fun to style. Plus, it's the perfect top for a summer cover-up, just pair with shorts or a flirty skirt and you have the ultimate beach-to-party look!
Okay, I'm going to sleep, but check out the outfit!

Currently obsessing over these stunning spaces.
Now that I've graduated from school I'm hoping to move into my first big girl apartment soon, and that means sophisticated decor! Yes, considering how obsessed with Pinterest I am, I might have slightly unrealistic ideas for what will surely be a modest apartment space, but hey, a girl can have #DecorGoals, right?
Anyways, here are some gorgeous interiors that are serving as my mood board for my future, tiny home (though I'll probably have to get creative and figure out how to DIY lots of things, lol).
