Bringing classic French style to old town Pasadena
Putting together an outfit that you absolutely love is one of the best feelings in the world. When you find something that works, you add it to your go-to mental list of fashion uniforms, and fashion uniforms are essential to have for days when you feel uninspired or pressed for time.
I'm not talking about plaid skirts and school blouses, I'm talking about the outfits that you return to, again and again, because they make you look and feel great. Personally, I tend to gravitate towards stripes and denim and a color palette of reds, blues, and neutrals, hence why so many of my daily looks could double as Fourth of July ensembles.
Over winter break I pulled together this outfit for the first time, inspired by the long black Madewell sweater that my brother had gotten me for Christmas (thanks, Sean!) I threw it over a blue striped sweatshirt dress, tied a red bandana around my neck, and slipped on my ankle boots. When I looked in the mirror, I knew this was a good look! Super comfy, a little French-looking, and absolutely perfect.
The thing about a fashion uniform is that it is a foundation for many different outfits. I can switch out the sweater for a leather jacket if I'm feeling edgy, or swap the boots for sandals for a dressier look. I can tie the bandana around my hair, or tie a scarf around my neck instead, or switch out the dress, and so on and so on.
The fashion uniform is a starting point, a go-to formula to keep in the back of your mind whenever you're getting dressed, but one that can change and transform to fit your fashion needs for the day.
So go ahead, think about the things you wear most and create your own fashion uniform! It will save you so much time on days when you can't think of what to wear, and you'll always look great because it's an outfit that you love!
